Judge Jackie Clarke
entertaining the audience
Four bands turned out this afternoon for the
entertainment component of the five day event.Playing before a panel of judges – Nigel Boddice, David Gallaher and guest celebrity judge Jackie Clarke bands were out to impress musically with some element of public appeal also assessed.
Dalewool Auckland Brass (Nigel Weeks) were first up with some Scottish flavours to hopefully impress the panel. Soloist Andrew Large was the winner of the best soloist prize playing Lairg Muir and Nicola Monk from Scenic Circle Hotels was there to present his prize.
Best soloist Andrew Large
The
Trusts Waitakere (Steven Booth) did a great solo feature with Stu
Benion (EEb bass) and Marlborough District Brass (Kevin Moseley) had
singers Nicola Moynihan and Steven Moseley out the front for a couple
of songs. Home crowd favourite North Shore Brass (Brent Large) were
impressive with their well choreographed and compeered Jerico Revisited
story and
although penalised for over time they were still ahead to take the
title of Scenic Circle Hotels Band of the Year on their first time
appearance. Their result was indeed assisted by some impressive
narrating by Jeff Tribe.Results
